Social & Digital Media Management: Surat Municipal Corporation


Surat was selected amongst the first 100 cities of India to be developed as smart cities.
Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) quickly addressed the citizen engagement goal by
encapsulating the omni channel digital platforms to improve citizen experience. The aim
was to promote citizen participation by exchanging ideas/suggestions for better and
inclusive governance.

To meet the requirements of SMC, Nascent developed a dynamic strategy well in advance to
penetrate activities, events, policies, and initiatives undertaken by SMC. For each of the
18 departments, unique campaigns were designed in three different languages: Gujarati,
Hindi, and English. For intuitive audience engagement, the content was served in the
most serviceable ways with static posts, GIFs, jingles, live streamings, and documentaries.

Within a span of 1 year Nascent successfully enhanced SMC’s vision to drive citizen
engagement and achieved more than 73,000 followers across all social media platforms
and more than 2000 active users on portal
