The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) was established in 1950 and is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city. Ahmedabad is the heart of industrial Gujarat; it is now classified a mega-city and is witnessing a surge of growth and development, that require modern GIS technologies hard wired into the governance system to empower the city municipality with tools for smarter, better governance.
Nascent is the technology partner for the AMC in the creation of digital city assets for smart governance using GIS. The project involved the preparation of a base map and data digitization using satellite imagery; use of DGPS and Total Station Techniques for a ground survey of the total municipal area; geo-referencing and creation of digital TP schemes, and property tagging and geo-referencing of the same, as well as a door-to-door survey of a municipality ward. In addition, Nascent effected and oversaw the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of servers and storage and networking infrastructure; the supply, installation and maintenance of the GIS platform (ArcGIS), and the integration of the new technologies seamlessly with existing e-governance applications. Nascent also undertook the training and capacity building of personnel for the effective use of the technologies, and provided the AMC post implementation support for a period of 5 years.
